Do you need a program to determine the luminance curve at the entrance of a straight tunnel according to international standards and recommendations?
If so, Tunnel Plus, the extra module for tunnel lighting of LITESTAR 4D Litecalc, is perfect for you.
Determination of Luminance Curve
Parameter Definition (Project Data)
Tunnel Plus allows you to define the luminance curve at the entrance of straight road tunnels by defining the parameters required by the different standards:
- CIE 88 2004
- CEN CR 14380 2007 (L20) (European Technical Report)
- UNI 11095 (Italy)
- OC36215 2015 (L20) (Spain)
in section Project Data.
Tunnel Plus provides three methods to define the luminance value at the tunnel entrance:
- Graphically through the Adrian's diagram or the L20 method
- Numerically by entering the luminance value at the access zone
- Tabularly by importing the chart of luminance values according to the progressive x
Adrian's Diagram
The Image (Adrian) section allows to evaluate the luminance curve at the access to straight road tunnels using the image of the tunnel entrance on which the Adrian diagram is superimposed, composed of n sectors whose type must be defined (access, road , rock, vegetation…)
L20 Method
It is also possible to define the luminance at the access zone with the L20 method which, starting from an image, allows to define the luminance value of each area of the image depending on the type (rock, vegetation, road, etc.).
Luminance Limit Curve Drawing
After having:
- defined the the Adrian's diagram or the diagram according to the L20 method, or,
- defined the access zone luminance value in the Project Data section, or,
- imported the curve using the table of luminance values according to the progressive x in meters in the Project Data window
the green colored limit luminance curve is displayed by accessing the Curves section
Remark: the blue curve that appears on the diagram together with the luminance limit curve derives from the Italian standard and represents the energy saving curve.
The luminance limit curve will then be comparable with the curve calculated in the Results section of Litecalc.
